University College of the North (UCN) is launching a seven-week ‘Digital Skills for Work and Business’ program at its The Pas campus and online. The program runs January 26–March 10, 2026, with an Essential Skills training and assessment in The Pas from January 26–30, 2026. A Town Hall/lunch awareness event for business leaders, community stakeholders and the ‘tech-curious’ is scheduled in The Pas on February 2, 2026 (11 a.m.–1 p.m.).

The in-person Digital Skills training series begins February 2, and the Virtual Advanced Digital Skills series runs February 9–March 10. Applications are open; the application deadline is January 5, 2026. Eligible applicants may be able to receive a wage subsidy while participating.

The course is delivered in a hybrid format and covers digital confidence and cyber safety, workplace readiness, digital storytelling and game design, an introduction to artificial intelligence, user-experience (UX) design, and portfolio development. UCN lists partners on the program page including the Northern Manitoba Sector Council, Communities Economic Development Fund (CEDF), Workplace Education Manitoba, TEQARE, and New Media Manitoba. UCN also advertises access to training labs and laptops for practical workshops.

This initiative follows an October 2025 federal investment in New Media Manitoba aimed at boosting AI innovation and digital media workforce training in the province; New Media Manitoba is listed as a partner on the UCN course page and is expected to inform the AI and UX elements of the curriculum.
