The Keewatin Tribal Council and its economic development agency, KEDC Corporation, are looking to fill several positions in Thompson, Manitoba, with application deadlines coming up fast in early August 2026.
KTC needs home and community care nurses, both registered nurses and licensed practical nurses, as well as a foot care nurse. Those applications must be in by August 10 at 4:00 p.m. KEDC is also hiring a project administrator and a project manager for the Pusiko Development Project, with a deadline of August 12.
The healthcare jobs come as many northern First Nations face a serious shortage of nurses. Some remote nursing stations have had to operate only for emergencies because they don’t have enough staff. KTC has been trying to fill gaps on its nursing team, which already includes a tribal nursing officer and diabetes coordinator, but recruitment is an ongoing challenge.
The project management roles are tied to the Pusiko Development Project, an 89-acre plan that will bring 384 housing units, a hotel, a conference centre, office space for KTC, and a tribal health centre to Thompson. City leaders have called it the biggest planned new development in Thompson in the past 50 years. Thompson has very few empty apartments, with a vacancy rate likely below two percent, and the new housing is expected to help meet demand from the roughly 65,000 people who rely on the city as a regional hub.
