Employers in Three Rivers, Prince Edward Island, can now apply for provincial government funding to help pay for summer student staff in 2026. Applications for these wage subsidies opened on March 5, 2026, as part of a provincial effort to support local businesses and young workers.

The Jobs for Youth Program is managed by SkillsPEI and the Employment Development Agency. It provides money to businesses that hire students aged 15 to 29 for summer work terms lasting between eight and 12 weeks.

To qualify for a job under this program, a student must live in the province and be eligible to work in Canada. They must also be currently enrolled in school and have plans to return to their studies in the fall of 2026.

According to the Government of Prince Edward Island, the program aims to help students gain meaningful work experience. At the same time, the funding helps local shop owners and companies reduce their costs when hiring extra help for the busy summer season.

Business owners can find application details and more information about student employment through the PEI HR Toolkit. This annual program is designed to bridge the gap between students looking for work and local employers who need seasonal staff.
