The Town of Three Rivers, Prince Edward Island, is holding a special public meeting on January 26, 2026, to update residents on local growth and upcoming spending plans. The session will take place immediately following the Committee of Council meeting and will explain how the community is handling new building projects and the next yearly budget.

This update follows a very busy year that saw $60.4 million in construction projects across the community. This increase in building was supported by the town’s Official Plan and Development Bylaw, approved in 2023, which streamlined permit processing and helped unlock new development.

Council members are also looking at priorities for the 2026–27 budget, with a focus on keeping services like roads and water running as more people move to the town. Part of this work involves coordination with the province on upgrades at Kings County Memorial Hospital — the provincial capital budget includes funding for improvements at KCMH, including a CT scanner scheduled for installation in the 2026–27 fiscal year.

Residents who attend the meeting will notice new meeting rules that were put in place to help sessions run more smoothly and safely. Under the procedural changes adopted in late 2025, people who want to speak at a public meeting must now register in advance — roughly 72 hours (three days) before the meeting; the town’s guidance advises would-be presenters to notify the CAO by 3:00 p.m. on the Friday prior to the meeting.
