The Town of Three Rivers, Prince Edward Island, is hosting a public Lunar New Year celebration on February 22, 2026. This family-friendly event will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to mark the beginning of the Year of the Horse.
The celebration is being held at the Great Wisdom Buddhist Institute monastery located at 805 Brudenell Point Road. Residents looking for the venue can follow the traditional red lanterns placed along the road to find the entrance.
Visitors can participate in a cultural experience led by the Buddhist nuns who live at the monastery in Brudenell. The event is part of a series of community programs following the town’s Winterval 2026 festival that was held earlier this month.
The Three Rivers Town Council previously gave the institute the go-ahead to build new dormitories on the property in 2025. This upcoming event provides an opportunity for locals to learn more about the traditions of their neighbours at the monastery.
