Residents in Three Rivers, Prince Edward Island, are being invited to share their thoughts on new provincial rules that will change how local groups run raffles and fundraisers. The Department of Justice and Public Safety launched a public consultation on March 4, 2026, to help create the new Charitable Lotteries Act.
The goal of the new law is to bring provincial rules up to date for community gaming activities like bingo, 50-50 draws, and raffles. These activities are important ways for many local non-profits and community groups to raise money for their local programs.
Bloyce Thompson, the Minister of Justice and Public Safety, said that getting feedback from the public helps the Government of Prince Edward Island build laws that are modern and inclusive. The province wants to ensure the new rules are fair and work well for the organizations that use them.
Local residents and community organizers have until March 20, 2026, to submit their comments to the provincial government. This feedback will help shape the final version of the act, which could change how community fundraisers are reported and managed in the future.
