The Town of Three Rivers, Prince Edward Island, is preparing to host a three-day celebration called Winterval from January 23 to January 25, 2026. The fourth edition is being promoted as larger than previous years, with a mix of primarily outdoor activities and some heated/enclosed venues designed to encourage families to embrace winter while supporting local businesses.
Highlights include the Light Brigade — a New Orleans–style parade — and an evening Fire and Ice Dance. Visitors can take part in “Snowga” (snow yoga) sessions hosted by Bogside Brewing, play giant games, or join other family-friendly winter activities (such as sledding, skating and outdoor games) — weather permitting.
According to The Buzz PEI, live music will be featured on the GFL-sponsored main stage (the “GFL Stage”). The festival is being delivered by the Town of Three Rivers in partnership with Active Communities Development Inc. to help grow winter tourism in eastern Prince Edward Island.
Mayor Debbie Johnson told CBC News the festival is an opportunity for people to get fresh air and support local shops during a typically quiet time of year. To encourage more people to stay in the community, local hotels — including the Rodd Brudenell River Resort — are offering special weekend packages.
