Woman Dies After Truck Collision in Three Rivers

A 75-year-old woman from Kings County has died after being struck by a semi-tractor trailer in a Montague, Prince Edward Island, parking lot on February 20, 2026. The tragedy has reignited local discussions regarding pedestrian safety after the woman succumbed to her injuries the following day.

According to the Kings District RCMP, the collision happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Atlantic Superstore in the Town of Three Rivers community of Montague. The woman was first taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown for treatment before being moved to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax for specialized trauma care.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service notified police that the victim passed away just before noon on February 21, 2026. An RCMP traffic reconstructionist was called to the scene to help determine the exact cause of the collision.

Officers are currently gathering statements from people who saw the accident and are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information or dash-cam footage from the parking lot at the time of the collision is encouraged to contact the police.

Emergency workers from the Montague Fire Department and Island EMS provided immediate care at the site of the collision. The investigation remains ongoing as police look into the circumstances surrounding the event in the high-traffic shopping area.
