The Friends of the Thunder Bay Public Library have released their upcoming bingo fundraising schedule, offering community members a chance to support local literacy while trying their luck at the jackpot.

Running from December 29, 2025, through March 18, 2026, the sessions will be held at Superior Shores Gaming Association (435 Memorial Ave). Under Ontario’s charitable gaming model, charities provide volunteers to assist with customer service; in return, the organization receives a share of the proceeds generated during those shifts.

Upcoming Volunteer & Gaming Sessions:

  • Monday, Dec. 29: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (Two shifts)

  • Wednesday, Jan. 14: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (Two shifts)

  • Wednesday, Jan. 21: 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

  • Monday, Feb. 9: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (Two shifts)

  • Tuesday, Mar. 3: 3:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

  • Wednesday, Mar. 18: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (Two shifts)

Since 1987, the “Friends” group has raised over $1 million, funding vital resources like book purchases, eResources, and the construction of the Mary J.L. Black Library branch.

“Every ticket sold doesn’t just offer a chance to win. It directly supports the vibrant programs and resources of our beloved library,” said Fran Duke, president of the group.

Residents can support the cause by attending the games during these times or signing up to volunteer. For more information or to register as a volunteer, visit librarylove.ca or the Superior Shores charity listing.
