Several high school teams in Thunder Bay, Ontario, were named city champions over the weekend of February 22–23, 2026, following the basketball and volleyball finals. The Superior Secondary Schools Athletic Association (SSSAA) announced the winners of the junior and senior divisions, paving the way for local teams to advance to regional competitions taking place this week.

St. Patrick High School took home two major titles, winning both the Senior Boys Basketball and Junior Girls Volleyball championships. In the Senior Boys final, the team defeated Superior CVI to secure the city title. The St. Patrick junior girls volleyball team also defeated Superior CVI, winning their championship match in three straight sets.

St. Ignatius High School also secured two city championships, winning the Senior Girls Volleyball and Junior Boys Basketball titles. The senior girls team won their final against Superior CVI, while the junior boys basketball team also emerged victorious in their division. These results mean both St. Patrick and St. Ignatius will represent Thunder Bay in the upcoming regional games.

The winning teams move on to the Northwestern Ontario (NWOSSAA) regional championships, which take place from February 25 to February 26, 2026. Teams that win at the regional level will qualify for the provincial championships. The provincial basketball finals (OFSAA) will take place in Pembroke and Timmins from March 9 to March 11, 2026.
