The 19th annual Thunder Bay Women’s Hockey Tournament is coming to Thunder Bay, Ontario, from February 27 to March 1, 2026, bringing together hundreds of athletes for a weekend of competition. Organized by the Thunder Bay Women’s Hockey Association (TBWHA), the event is expected to draw local and visiting teams, providing a significant boost to area hotels and restaurants during a peak period for sports tourism.
The competition includes Junior House divisions for players from U7 (ages four to six) up to U18, as well as a senior division for players aged 18 and older. Games are planned for major local ice rinks, including the Thunder Bay Tournament Centre. The tournament is designed to promote the sport as a way for girls and women of all skill levels to enjoy the game together.
This year’s event coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Thunder Bay Queens, the city’s premier program for female hockey athletes. Celebrating three decades of player development since its founding in 1995, the milestone adds extra significance to the weekend matches and community activities.
Teams interested in participating can sign up through the official registration portal used by the TBWHA, which is an affiliate of the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association. Fans and families are encouraged to attend the games to support the athletes and take part in one of the region’s largest winter sporting traditions.
