Beginning April 1, 2026, riders using the T:GO In-Town Transit Service in Tillsonburg will see a new operator and a fleet of updated buses designed for better accessibility. The town is transitioning the service to OnexBus, a Brampton-based company, following a competitive bidding process.

The new fleet consists of climate-controlled, high-deck mini buses that feature rear wheelchair lifts. Each vehicle is designed to carry 16 seated passengers and two passengers using mobility devices. For the first time, these buses also include front-mounted racks capable of carrying two bicycles, providing a new option for residents who combine cycling with public transit.

According to the Town of Tillsonburg, transit users will not experience any changes to current routes, bus stop times, or fare prices. Additionally, any transit tickets purchased before this transition will continue to be honoured. Town Transit Coordinator Landon Chan will oversee day-to-day operations to ensure service remains consistent for the community.

The town awarded the five-year contract to OnexBus at a total cost of $1,305,240. This agreement replaces Voyago, which had operated the service since 2020. Officials noted that the new contract includes performance-based clauses that allow the town to end the agreement if specific service standards are not met.

The selection of OnexBus comes after a review process where the company scored higher than the previous operator. While some members of the Tillsonburg Town Council raised questions regarding the transition and the operator’s experience with municipal routes, the contract was approved to prioritize accessible transit options for the growing number of local residents who rely on the service for medical appointments, school, and work.
