Brant County Ontario Provincial Police say a snowmobile collision near the Tillsonburg border on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, left one person dead and two others with life‑threatening injuries.

Police say first responders were called to Brant County Road 18 between 6 School Road and Highway 54 at about 5 p.m. Local reporting by the Brantford Expositor described the crash as a two‑vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and a snowmobile. The snowmobile rider was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased; the motor vehicle driver was not injured, police said.

Brant County OPP say two other people were seriously injured and were taken to a regional trauma centre with life‑threatening injuries. The identity of the person who died is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the OPP said.

Investigators remained on scene through Monday, Jan. 26, as they examined whether speed, visibility or alcohol were factors in the collision. Brant County OPP have asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage from the area to contact them at 1‑888‑310‑1122.

The collision follows a series of winter trail safety warnings issued earlier in January. The Hamilton Spectator has reported that heavy snowfall following a mild start to the winter has created deceptively soft trail conditions for some riders in the region.
