The Porquis Agricultural Society is inviting community members to its Annual General Meeting on January 21, 2026, to help plan for local fairs and events near Timmins, Ontario.
The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Porquis Agricultural Hall in Porquis Junction. Organizers are looking for volunteers and new members to help run major local traditions such as the Porquis Fall Fair and the society’s horse-pull (heavy-horse) competitions, which are coordinated with the Northern Draft Horse Pull Association.
Jennifer Fry, president of the Porquis Agricultural Society, said: “We’re here to promote agriculture and bring everybody back to their roots; teach and educate.” The organization has seen a recent boost in support from residents and businesses in Timmins and collaborates with nearby communities such as Iroquois Falls.
Attendees will discuss the upcoming season budget, elect new board members, and coordinate upcoming activities. While anyone can attend to learn more, voting on official society decisions and board elections typically requires a paid annual membership (historically a nominal fee).
