The City of Portage la Prairie has published its full 2026 council and committee meeting dates on its Council Meetings page, confirming that sessions will return to the renovated Council Chambers at City Hall with hybrid attendance options.
Meetings are scheduled primarily for the second and fourth Monday of each month in the Council Chambers at City Hall (97 Saskatchewan Avenue East, Portage la Prairie, MB), with committee sessions generally starting at 6:00 p.m. and Council meetings to follow, unless otherwise advertised. The City’s published 2026 schedule includes a small number of date adjustments for statutory holidays; consultees should refer to the full schedule on the City website for exact dates.
According to City announcements and local reporting, late-2024 renovations installed an elevator and upgraded the historic 1898 former post office building to improve accessibility and bring the facility up to modern standards.
Residents can attend meetings in person or watch the live stream on the City’s YouTube channel and on the Rogers community cable channel. PortageOnline reported that the city is increasing accessibility by offering council meetings to stream online; Councillor Melissa Draycott is quoted in that story explaining how meetings are posted to the City’s YouTube site and can be viewed afterwards.
By releasing the full-year schedule well in advance, the City aims to help residents, developers and community groups plan for public hearings and delegation requests. The 2026 calendar also marks the final full year of Mayor Sharilyn Knox’s current term and reflects the council’s focus on accessibility improvements during its term.
