The Goldstream Food Bank in Langford is asking View Royal residents to donate clean, empty Ensure bottles to help distribute nutritional supplements to people who need them.
On August 17, 2026, the food bank posted an urgent appeal on its website: “Calling-out the Westshore Communities!! The Goldstream Foodbank is in need of Ensure Bottles donations (or small bottles alike), rinsed and washed.” The bottles will be used to give out supplements like Ensure to vulnerable clients, especially seniors and people with medical needs.
The food bank, which runs out of the basement of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #91 at 761 Station Avenue, serves View Royal and five other Westshore municipalities. Donations can be dropped off in a bin on the left side of the ramp during opening hours: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon during the first three weeks of each month.
The appeal comes as demand for food bank services keeps climbing. According to Food Banks BC, visits to BC food banks have increased 79 percent since 2019, and over 1.3 million British Columbians are experiencing food insecurity. The Goldstream Food Bank has operated since 1983 and is run entirely by volunteers.
Residents who can rinse out a few empty Supplement bottles and drop them off during the limited operating hours will help provide a critical service to neighbours in need.
