The Town of View Royal is encouraging residents who do not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner to sign up for the provincial Health Connect Registry. The Town issued the reminder on May 14, 2026, as part of an effort to help community members secure primary care.
The registry acts as a centralized system that connects patients without a provider to healthcare professionals as space opens up in the area. Registration is free and takes less than five minutes to complete. To sign up, residents will need their Personal Health Number, which can be found on their BC Services Card or driver’s licence, along with their home address, phone number, and email address.
For those who may require assistance, translation support is available in more than 130 languages by calling 811. The Town is also reminding residents who are already on the list to ensure their contact information remains up to date.
This initiative comes as many residents across British Columbia continue to face challenges in accessing primary care. As of early 2025, it was estimated that approximately 700,000 people in the province lacked a family doctor, with medical professionals highlighting Vancouver Island as an area of particular concern.
The Town of View Royal provides this information as a resource for its population of approximately 11,575 residents. Further information about town services and local governance can be found on the View Royal Town Council website.
