Families in the Waterloo region have several opportunities to celebrate the upcoming Easter long weekend with a variety of holiday-themed events held at Region of Waterloo Museums locations. Running from Good Friday, April 3, through Easter Monday, April 6, 2026, the local sites are hosting egg hunts, crafts, and family games to mark the holiday.

The Easter Egg Fest at Doon Heritage Village is taking place on April 3. While this event is currently sold out and cannot accommodate additional walk-ins, visitors are still welcome to explore the main museum galleries and participate in themed activities available in the building foyer. This site is specifically hosting children ages 0-4 for hunts in an age-appropriate space, while children aged 5 and older will participate in the Lower Village.

Additional holiday programming is available at other regional sites throughout the long weekend. The Spring Fling at McDougall Cottage runs from April 3 to April 5, featuring bunny bowling, a carrot toss, and crafts. Admission is $10 plus HST for children ages 3 and up, and $3 plus HST for adults. On Easter Monday, April 6, the cottage will offer guided tours and a planting activity, with admission by donation.

The Schneider Haus Easter Egg-stravaganza is scheduled for April 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., featuring baby chicks, seasonal stories, and games. Admission is $12 plus HST for children and $7 plus HST for adults. Additionally, the site will host mini egg hunts and spring activities on April 3, April 5, and April 6, which are included with regular museum admission.

Participants at these events may also look for golden eggs hidden at various locations for a chance to win a museum membership. Registered museum members are eligible for a 10 percent discount on ticketed events by using specific discount codes. For a complete list of hours and event information, residents can visit the official museum calendar.
