Hockey Yukon has released official information packages for the 2026 Yukon Championships, confirming Watson Lake will host the U13 tournament in February. The packages give local teams and families details on travel costs, registration rules and deadlines as the community prepares for another major sporting event.
The U13 Yukon Hockey Championships are scheduled in Watson Lake from February 13 to February 15, 2026, according to the Sport Yukon event calendar. Local organizers are shifting focus to the U13 event after hosting the U11 tournament in Watson Lake on January 23–25, 2026.
Teams must register via Hockey Yukons RAMP InterActive portal; the published packages require certified rosters and proof of age and set final rosters and fees roughly 14
1 days before puck drop (approximately Feb. 1, 2026, for the U13 championships).
Because many teams travel hundreds of kilometres to attend, the 2026 championship packages include travel subsidy clauses (for community teams travelling more than 300 km) to help offset fuel and lodging costs. These updates come alongside reporting from CKRW on rule changes to the Kilrich Yukon Native Hockey Tournament (including opening the A Division to professional or formerly professional players).
Watson Lake has faced past challenges with high hotel prices during major events, as previously reported by the Yukon News, making subsidies and early planning important for local families. Watson Lake Minor Hockey Association is coordinating ice time and lodging arrangements to welcome visiting teams from across the territory.
