Travellers and pilots in Watson Lake, Yukon, should prepare for possible flight disruptions as light snow begins to fall at the local airport on February 24, 2026. Environment Canada reports that snow is expected to continue through Wednesday, which could impact visibility and travel.

As of 10:00 AM on Tuesday, the temperature at the airport sat at -14°C with visibility around 10 kilometres and calm winds. Forecasters expect between 2 and 4 centimetres of snow to settle through Tuesday, followed by another 5 centimetres during the day on Wednesday.

The Watson Lake Airport is a key travel hub operated by the Yukon Government for charter and passenger flights. Because the airport serves smaller planes that are more sensitive to snow and visibility, travellers using carriers like Alkan Air or Air North are encouraged to check their flight status before heading to the terminal.

On the ground, the Town of Watson Lake is managing snow clearing for local roads. Officials remind residents to keep public right-of-ways clear of any objects to help plow crews work efficiently during the snow event.
