The City of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, is offering free admission to the first 15 teenagers who attend each Friday night swim throughout February and March 2026. These sessions take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Manluk Centre: Wetaskiwin Regional Aquatics & Fitness.
The program provides local youth with a supervised place to spend their Friday evenings. Residents should note that these events may affect pool capacity and regular swim times for other visitors during these hours.
This youth initiative comes as the facility prepares for changes to its hours starting March 9, 2026. To meet a City Council instruction to save $57,600 per year, the centre will reduce its daily operating hours by one hour.
These service adjustments follow the approval of the 2026 municipal budget, which included a 3.87 per cent property tax increase. Along with fiscal changes, the city is also considering requests for better security and surveillance at the building following recent concerns about theft.
