The Weyburn Livestock Exchange is holding a special sale of bred cows and breeding stock on February 11, 2026, at its facility near Weyburn, Saskatchewan. The event gives area ranchers a chance to buy pregnant females and other breeding stock to grow or maintain their herds just before the spring calving season begins.

The breeding offering will follow the regular Cull Cow & Bull sale that begins at 9:00 a.m.; breeding stock are scheduled for the afternoon. Local producers are looking to rebuild their herds this year as cattle prices remain elevated.

Manager Roy Rutledge, who was profiled in Canadian Cattlemen (2011) for his long-time work in livestock marketing, says the market aims to help everyone looking for quality livestock. Rutledge Auction Management has managed the Weyburn Livestock Exchange since 2006.

Analysts at Farm Credit Canada project cattle prices to remain well above the five‑year average through 2026 and into 2027. For those who cannot attend in person at the yards two miles south of Weyburn on Highway 35, the sale will be broadcast and accept remote bids through DLMS (Direct Livestock Marketing Systems); bidders are asked to register on DLMS prior to the sale.
