The City of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, has opened applications for about 22 seasonal positions for the Summer 2026 season. Residents and students can apply now for temporary roles that help keep city services running during the busiest months of the year. Most positions run from the first week of May through the end of August.
Available roles include lifeguards and swimming instructors at the Weyburn Leisure Centre, seasonal staff for the Soo Line Historical Museum and the Heritage Village, and workers in parks and public works for lawn care, road repairs and River Park campground duties. The City’s careers portal lists these and other seasonal postings; local reporting notes the staff are essential to keeping attractions and services open during the summer months.
These seasonal roles are part of the city’s effort to provide local students with work experience and income while they are out of school. Mayor Jeff Richards, elected in the November 2024 municipal election, has said the positions support the city’s priorities for parks, green space and youth employment. The hiring drive also follows a Feb. 3, 2026 provincial announcement that the Government of Saskatchewan is providing $238,000 to support community safety in Weyburn under the SCAN initiative.
Even though it is still winter, city officials say they begin recruitment in February to ensure enough staff are hired before warmer weather arrives. City leaders add that many of the roles are scheduled to fit the university calendar, making it easier for students to work the summer term before returning to classes in September.
