On February 6, 2026, second-year students in the Business Diploma in Management program at Southeast College’s Weyburn campus competed in a business pitch competition to present their best ideas for new local startups. The event challenged students to identify gaps in the local economy and create professional plans to fill them.
The group Team Game On earned the top award for their proposal, which focused on creating a new community-based recreation service for the community. Judges from the local business community evaluated the presentations on market understanding and the students’ plans to make their businesses sustainable and profitable.
The competition is part of the Business Diploma in Management, which was reintroduced at the Weyburn campus in 2024 to address demand for local management expertise and economic diversification. This entrepreneurial emphasis aligns with Southeast College’s 2026 strategic focus to expand digital and technology training, with new programs being planned or expected to launch in 2026.
Many students follow a local entrepreneurial pipeline — often beginning with programs such as YouthBiz and Junior Achievement — and this event helps transition those early skills into collegiate-level business plans that can support the long-term growth of the local economy.
