The Whitby Farmers’ Market is adding a special holiday event on July 1, 2026, to celebrate Canada Day in Whitby, Ontario. This new market date gives residents an extra opportunity to buy local food and handmade gifts during the holiday festivities.

The special event falls on a Wednesday, which is the regular operating day for the market at Celebration Square. According to the Durham Region Farmers’ Market Association, the full 2026 season runs from May 13 to October 14 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Market manager Sara Demoe is managing the 2026 season as the event continues to expand its presence in the community. The addition of the holiday market follows a year where the Town of Whitby had to limit celebrations to fireworks only due to environmental cleanup work at the harbour.

Along with the Canada Day activities, the market will participate in the Home Sweet Home festival on July 25, 2026. This downtown event was first held in 2025 to encourage residents to walk through the area and support local vendors.
