The Town of Whitby, Ontario, released its construction plan for March 2026, detailing major roadwork and progress on a new community sports centre. These updates help residents and business owners plan for detours and track the progress of several large local projects.

On Columbus Road, crews are working to finish clearing trees and brush by April 1, 2026, between Country Lane and Cedarbrook Trail. Nearby, the town is replacing the White Bridge over Lynde Creek, which will eventually feature new bike lanes and sidewalks when it opens in December 2026.

The Fieldgate Sports Complex is also reaching major milestones this month. Workers are starting to install gymnasium flooring and tiles in the pool area, while the outside of the building is expected to be finished by the end of March 2026.

To mark the move to the new facility, a final community skate will take place at the Luther Vipond Memorial Arena on March 15, 2026. Families and residents can visit the historic arena one last time from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. before ice sports move to the new complex later this year.
