The Town of Whitchurch‑Stouffville will mail the 2026 waste collection calendar to all residential households in mid‑to‑late December 2025. The printed guide lists garbage, organics, recycling and bulk‑item pickup dates and is intended to help residents prepare for the shift to 360‑litre recycling carts and a bi‑weekly recycling schedule. (Circular Materials and the Town note that residents are required to use the new carts beginning in early January 2026.)
If you do not receive a calendar by the first week of January 2026, contact the Town at 905‑640‑1900 or email lori.mcnaughton@townofws.ca and the Town will mail a copy. GFL Environmental (1‑866‑421‑5625) remains the Town’s collection contractor and can be contacted for collection inquiries or to arrange large/bulk item appointments. Residents who require a second recycling cart can request one starting January 1, 2026.
Extra copies of the 2026 calendar will be available for pickup at Town Hall (111 Sandiford Dr.), the Leisure Centre (2 Park Dr.) and the Museum & Community Centre (14732 Woodbine Ave.).
Circular Materials will manage the new recycling program. Each household will receive one 95‑gallon (360‑litre) wheeled recycling cart to support bi‑weekly collection; the program materials indicate the carts are being issued to households as part of the rollout. Residents should note that the final week of collection for the small blue boxes is the week of December 22, 2025, there will be no recycling collection during the week of December 29, 2025, and the new carts must be used when cart collection resumes the week of January 5 (Circular Materials notes residents are required to use the new carts starting January 6, 2026). Cardboard should be broken down and flattened to better fit inside the carts.
Large and bulk item collection will move to an appointment‑only system starting December 29, 2025; to arrange a pickup contact GFL Environmental at 1‑866‑421‑5625 or wasteline@gflenv.com. Unwanted small blue boxes may be set out for a one‑time curbside pickup during the week of February 2, 2026 (place bins at the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular collection day). Alternatively, residents may drop off old blue boxes at the Georgina Transfer Station during January 2026 (depot drop‑off dates/hours apply).
