Residents and contractors in the Whitecourt area are finding alternative ways to get water after Woodlands County issued a notice on January 26, 2026, announcing a temporary disruption at two bulk water fill stations serving the region. The outage affects the West Mountain (Whitecourt area) and Blue Ridge stations and is linked to a mechanical pump failure at the West Mountain site and a regional cardlock (prepaid) billing software synchronization error.

Woodlands County officials say they expect partial service to be restored by January 30, 2026, and full service by February 1, 2026.

People who need potable water or fill their tanks are being directed to the Town of Whitecourt’s cardlock pumphouse at the Water Treatment Plant (the 47th Street pumphouse). The Town reports roughly triple the usual volume at that station and recommends that haulers try to schedule fills during off-peak hours (late evening or early morning) to avoid long lines. Woodlands County says repair crews are working 12-hour shifts to replace mechanical components (including valves) and restore the cardlock billing software that tracks water usage.

Other options include the Anselmo and Fort Assiniboine stations, though the county reports those locations are also experiencing high volumes. Residents should check Woodlands County’s Local Notices page for real-time updates on station status and official statements.
