The Winkler & District Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual meeting on February 26, 2026, at the Central Station Community Centre in Winkler, Manitoba. This gathering gives local business owners a chance to vote on new leadership and hear about the city’s economic goals for the year.
Mayor Henry Siemens is expected to deliver the Chamber’s City State Address during the event. According to Pembina Valley Online, the mayor will focus on how the city plans to grow by working with nearby towns and finishing major construction projects like the water treatment expansion.
Members will also vote to fill several seats on the Chamber’s 10-member board of directors. The Chamber’s bylaws state: “Every member in good standing represented at any general meeting shall be entitled to one vote.”
Business owners will hear updates on local tax changes, including the regional accommodation tax (implemented in 2025 and scheduled to phase up in subsequent years). These adjustments are part of a plan to ensure the community has funds to repair and replace public assets, according to reports from Pembina Valley Online.
Holding the event at Central Station marks a shift toward working more closely with local non-profit groups. The meeting is also the first full-cycle update on the Chamber’s 2025–2029 strategic plan, which aims to strengthen the local economy through 2029.
