Residents in Winkler, Manitoba, can speak directly with local leaders today, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, to share their ideas for the community. Mayor Henry Siemens and other city officials are hosting an “Ask the Mayor” drop-in session at Winkler City Hall (185 Main Street) where residents can raise questions about local services and future plans.
One major topic expected at the meeting is the status of the new Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility — a project budgeted at about $56.5 million (local reporting has cited figures around $56.7 million). City officials have said the facility is a high priority because it will increase wastewater capacity and enable more housing and business growth; the project is expected to come online in early 2026, with full operations anticipated by mid–to–late 2026.
The City of Winkler recently brought its water treatment plant expansion online in late 2025, and the mayor is expected to provide updates on other city projects. These include ongoing improvements to the Centennial Arena and initiatives to support healthcare worker recruitment for the region (issues Mayor Siemens and senior staff have highlighted in recent briefings).
The meeting is open to everyone and runs from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in Council Chambers at City Hall, 185 Main Street. Residents do not need to book an appointment and are encouraged to drop by to discuss the 2026 budget or any other neighbourhood concerns.
