Winkler, Manitoba, will host Pembina Valley Pride’s annual regional Pride march for the first time on June 13, 2026, as local organizers look to increase visibility for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Pembina Valley Pride chose Winkler after a post-event survey showed it as the top choice; organizers say they want to show residents they can live authentically in their hometown rather than move to Winnipeg. The event will include a public march through the downtown core followed by a rally with food trucks, vendors and guest speakers.

The announcement has prompted calls for dignity from local leaders during an important year for the community. According to local reports, Mayor Henry Siemens has asked residents to treat visitors with “respect and dignity.” While the city is not a formal organizer of the march, it has said it will provide standard public safety and traffic control for the gathering.

Local figures have weighed in on the event as the community prepares for the 2026 municipal election in October. Educator John Finch publicly condemned hateful remarks appearing online, saying students and neighbours deserve a safe community. Residents can expect more details about specific road closures and the march route once the city finalizes permits with organizers.
