The City of Winkler, Manitoba, has released its February youth soccer programming, offering indoor sessions for children between the ages of 4 and 18. These sessions provide local families with a way to keep children active during the coldest part of winter at the Meridian Exhibition Centre Fieldhouse.
Families can register for various skill-building programs and recreational drop-in turf times through the City of Winkler website or the Winkler Amateur Soccer Association portal. Registration for the next round typically closes 48 hours before the first session (approximately Feb. 5–7 for the upcoming block), so parents are encouraged to sign up soon to secure a spot.
Participants are required to bring specific gear, including shin guards and clean indoor shoes with non-marking soles, because outdoor cleats are not permitted on the indoor turf. Costs for the developmental programs typically range from $55 to $75 per block, while individual drop-in times for the turf are available for about $5 per child.
Organizers are also calling for parent volunteers to help coach the younger age groups to ensure there are enough teams for the nearly 700 children currently participating (over 674 registered as of late 2025). Prospective coaches must complete a Criminal Record Check and required training (for example, Respect in Sport); coach certification requirements follow Manitoba Soccer Association guidelines as applicable.
