Business owners in downtown Woodstock, Ontario, are hosting a Mardi Gras–themed promotion from January 19 to February 17, 2026, to bring more people into the community’s core during the winter. The initiative is organized by the Downtown Woodstock BIA with support from the City of Woodstock and features colourful window displays and special deals at local shops. The business group represents and promotes downtown businesses and works to enhance the area’s commercial vitality.

The Downtown Woodstock BIA represents more than 200 businesses. Participating retailers and restaurants include Habitual Chocolate, The Cheesy Cow Company and Zabian’s Men’s Wear. Residents can find New Orleans–inspired food on local menus and take part in a shopping incentive called a Bead Crawl. Stores along Dundas Street are decorated in purple, gold and green to create a festive atmosphere.

The promotion aims to make the downtown area a destination during a time of year when shopping usually slows down. Tourism Oxford lists downtown events and promotes local attractions in Oxford County; local coverage on Heart FM notes organizers hope the decorations and special offers will encourage people to visit the main street even in cold weather. The promotion is also intended to help small businesses manage costs during the slower winter months.

The event will lead up to a final celebration on February 17, 2026, which is Fat Tuesday. Mayor Jerry Acchione said the collaborative effort demonstrates the resilience of the local economy and helps keep the heart of the community vibrant. Residents are encouraged to visit the downtown area to see the displays and take advantage of the local deals.
