On February 17, 2026, the  Yorkton Frienship Centre hosted a free diabetic clinic in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, to provide health education and support for the community. The event took place at the Days Inn & Suites Yorkton and was open to anyone living with the condition, as well as caregivers and people looking for lifestyle tips.

During the morning session, attendees accessed resources designed to help manage the disease and potentially reduce the number of future medical visits. This community gathering offered a way for residents to get professional advice and peer support in a central location on Broadway Street East.

The clinic arrived as the Government of Saskatchewan works to expand public coverage for health monitoring supplies. According to the 2025-2026 provincial budget, more people now have access to funded tools that help track blood sugar levels throughout the day.

Data from Diabetes Canada shows that about 10 per cent of people in the province live with the condition. Another 20 per cent of residents are estimated to be at risk or unaware they have it, making local screening events a key part of community health.
