The Gallagher Centre in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, is shifting its focus from winter sports to warmer-weather programming following the official removal of its curling rink ice on March 31, 2026.
The transition marks the beginning of a busy season for the City of Yorkton owned facility, which serves as a primary hub for sports, recreation, and community conventions. Each year, the curling rink ice is removed between April and October, transforming the space from an eight-sheet ice surface into a large venue capable of hosting up to 80 trade show booths or 500 banquet-style guests.
The Yorkton Agricultural & Industrial Exhibition Association, a volunteer group active since 1883, has organized a full calendar of events to fill the space throughout the coming months. The sequence of spring events begins with the 4-H Spring Steer & Heifer Show, running from April 7 to April 9, 2026.
This will be followed by the 2026 Spring Expo, which is set for April 10 to April 12, 2026. As the season’s flagship trade show, the event is open to all ages.
The facility remains a central fixture in the community, with its naming rights recently renewed through 2035. Beyond the curling rink, the site houses the Westland Insurance Arena, the Flexihall field house, the Access Communications Water Park, and the National Bank Convention Place.
