A major snowstorm is on its way to Yorkton, Saskatchewan, with the heaviest snowfall expected between February 17 and February 18, 2026. The storm could begin as early as late tonight and may last until February 19, causing disruptions to school schedules and travel.

Local storm spotter Ryan Crouse has released timing maps and advisories to help the community prepare for the winter weather. Crouse is a trained weather observer who often provides live video of storms through SevereStudios.com.

This storm is unusual because February is typically the driest month of the year for the area, usually seeing only 16 to 18 millimetres of moisture. Residents are encouraged to check for the latest weather updates from Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways recommends using the Highway Hotline to check road conditions and track snowplows in real time. Drivers should use extra caution on major routes like the Yellowhead Highway, where blowing snow can quickly make travel difficult.
