The Kahkewistahaw First Nation is hiring a full-time, permanent Membership Clerk to work at its office in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. This move, announced on February 26, 2026, aims to make it easier for the community’s more than 2,100 members to get the documents and support they need.
The clerk will be responsible for keeping the community’s official registry and membership lists up to date. Their main duties include helping eligible members get their Indian Status Cards, which are essential for legal identification and accessing treaty benefits.
The position will be based at Mâmawi Landing, an urban reserve located at 500 Broadway Street West. By having a staff member in the city, the nation is reducing the need for local residents to travel to the main administrative office near Broadview.
Chief Evan B.G. Taypotat and the nation’s leadership are accepting applications for the job until March 5, 2026, at 4:30 PM. This hiring is part of an effort to provide better services to members, especially since about 36 per cent of the population is aged 18 or younger.
Specific details about the Membership Clerk role can be found on the nation’s website. The new employee will report to the Director of Membership Services to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
