The Kahkewistahaw First Nation has scheduled its 2026 summer gathering for August 14–16, 2026, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. The three-day Pow Wow is listed to take place at the Bernard Bobb Memorial Pow Wow Grounds and will feature traditional dance competitions and drumming. The Bernard Bobb Memorial Pow Wow Grounds have historically been associated with the main reserve near Broadview; the 2026 announcement identifies Yorkton as the host city, and the band indicates this reflects use or extension of the grounds in the Yorkton area.
Organizers and the Yorkton Tribal Council said the early announcement of dates helps community members and visitors plan for the celebration. The gathering is expected to be one of the largest Indigenous cultural events in Eastern Saskatchewan, drawing people together to honour elders and celebrate heritage.
The First Nation has been increasing its presence in Yorkton through urban-reserve development and related projects such as Mâmawi Landing. According to reporting in SaskToday, these developments are part of a longer-term plan—supported by Kahkewistahaw leadership—to build a healthy and sustainable community for nation members.
Local leaders expect the mid-August celebration to bring many visitors into the city, supporting local shops and services. The event will provide a space for traditional ceremonies and for people to learn more about Saulteaux and Cree culture.
