Residents in Willowbrook, Saskatchewan, and the rural areas west and southwest of Yorkton will see a planned power interruption on February 19, 2026. The outage is expected to last from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM while crews perform maintenance on the local electrical system.
According to SaskPower, this work is necessary to keep the power grid reliable for the long term. Households and local farms are encouraged to prepare for the four-hour window by making plans for heating, medical needs, and livestock care.
The timing of the work is important as Environment Canada is forecasting snow and freezing rain, with temperatures potentially dropping as low as -27°C. This planned maintenance follows a major unexpected blackout on January 15, 2026, which left 14,500 customers in the region without electricity.
To further improve local service, a new maintenance facility is currently being built in the region by Quorex. This project aims to centralize equipment and staff to help stabilize the power supply for rural residents and businesses.
