The East Central Newcomer Welcome Centre Inc. is offering free art and dance classes for newcomer youth ages 10 to 18 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. The program, Connecting Cultures Through Art and Dance, runs through June 20 at 132 Broadway Street West.
The series includes 10 dance classes and 10 art classes led by experienced instructors. Sessions are being held Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The centre says the program is meant to give newcomer youth a welcoming place to explore cultural expression through movement and visual art. Registration is available by contacting Ruel Guthrie at [email protected] or 306-783-2777.
The East Central Newcomer Welcome Centre says it provides free settlement services, resources and programming to newcomers within a 150-kilometre radius of Yorkton. The non-profit is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan.
