The Yorkton Terriers defeated the Kindersley Klippers 5-3 at Westland Insurance Arena in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, on January 23, 2026. The game was the SJHL’s SaskTel “Game of the Month” and was broadcast on SaskTel maxTV (and streamed online), reaching a provincial audience.
Gabriel Courchesne scored the game-winning goal with 1:34 left in the third period. It was his sixth game-winning goal of the season, the most in the SJHL.
According to GX94 Radio, the performance moved Courchesne into second place in league scoring. The match was tied 3-3 until Courchesne broke the deadlock at 18:26 of the third period; Yorkton added an empty-net insurance goal to close out the 5-3 victory.
A recap from SportsCage noted the team’s top line (Gabriel Courchesne, William Leonard and Jye Zawatsky) has been one of the SJHL’s most productive units. Ryder McDonald also scored and was noted for his physical play during the match.
Head coach and general manager Emery Olauson has the team in a strong position in the standings as they prepare for several home games in February. Goaltender Callum Creig earned the win, making 22 saves and several key stops to preserve the lead.
