The Assiniboine College Cougars women’s volleyball team made history on March 1, 2026, by winning the school’s first league title in Dauphin, Manitoba. The team secured the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference championship after defeating the CMU Blazers in a final match hosted by the college’s Parkland Campus at the Parkland Recreation Complex.
The Cougars won the final match with a 3-0 sweep. This victory ended the best-of-three series with two wins and no losses, marking the first time the volleyball program has finished a season at the top of the league.
Third-year player Kylee Peake was named the championship MVP for her performance during the finals. Head Coach Kevin Neufeld has spent five years building the program to reach this championship level.
The event was held in Dauphin to bring more attention to the school’s programs in the local area. College officials expect the win to help grow local interest in youth sports and encourage more fans to attend future home games.
By winning the league title, the team has now earned a spot to compete in the national championships against other colleges from across Canada.
