The Camrose Police Service (CPS) is continuing its effort to stop illegal drugs from being sold in the community after several recent arrests. In early February 2026, police stopped a vehicle for an illegal U-turn in the city’s east end, which led to the arrest of a woman from Hanna and a man from Drumheller for drug trafficking.
These recent enforcement actions follow previous successes for the local Major Crimes Unit, including an investigation called Project Crush, which concluded in October 2024. That operation resulted in 22 drug trafficking-related charges and 11 charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking. This work followed a similar joint project from February 2021 that targeted drug suppliers in the local region.
Officers often identify larger drug networks through routine traffic stops. The February 2026 arrests were made after police pulled over a vehicle and found a significant drug seizure inside.
The CPS Major Crimes Unit works with other groups like the Wetaskiwin RCMP to track suspects. They also receive support from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) to handle crimes that cross into other towns.
