The Alberta Sheriffs officially closed a residential property at 5312 51 Ave. in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, on March 3, 2026, to stop ongoing drug use and criminal activity. This action follows an investigation that began in the fall of 2024 after local residents reported concerns about the home.
The house is located in a residential area near schools, parks, and retirement homes. Under a court-ordered safety mandate, the building has been boarded up and locked to prevent anyone from entering the property.
The home will remain closed for 90 days, with the current order ending on June 1, 2026. Additional safety conditions will stay in effect for the property until December 16, 2028, to ensure criminal activity does not return to the neighborhood.
The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit handled the closure in partnership with the Wetaskiwin RCMP. Officials state that the goal of this work is to remove sources of crime and improve the quality of life for people living nearby.
