The City of Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, will close portions of Mitchell Trail from Monday, March 9 to Friday, March 13, 2026. The week-long closure is necessary to allow crews to clean up damage and hazards left behind by recent winter storms.
Public works crews will be on-site daily between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. to remove unstable trees and clear away debris. These sections of the trail will remain closed during active work hours to ensure the safety of both trail users and restoration teams.
This maintenance follows severe storms that occurred in December 2025 and January 2026. Those weather events caused many trees to fall and left the soil very wet and unstable, which created dangerous conditions along the path.
The city aims to restore the natural area and improve long-term safety for everyone who visits the park. Residents are encouraged to use alternative routes while the cleanup is completed, with all work expected to wrap up by the end of the day on March 13, 2026.
