The Kempenfelt Community Players (KCP) announced on March 2, 2026, that they are looking for local creative teams to pitch ideas for their 2027 spring musical in Barrie, Ontario. The community theatre group is inviting directors, producers, and choreographers to submit their vision for a “dream musical” to be staged at the Five Points Theatre.
The selected production will have a two-week run at the downtown theatre during the spring of 2027. This call for proposals allows local artists to lead a major production while KCP handles the venue booking, administrative support, and production logistics.
The Kempenfelt Community Players have been operating as a non-profit community theatre group since 1977, when they were originally founded as The Teachers’ Music Theatre Workshop. For nearly 50 years, the organization has provided a space for volunteers and youth to participate in artistic projects in the region.
By opening the floor to new proposals, the group aims to foster collaboration within the local arts community. This initiative is designed to create new pathways for artistic expression and help shape the city’s future cultural calendar.
