The deal covers more than 52,000 teachers who work in public schools throughout the province. It includes extra funding to hire more counsellors, learning assistance teachers, and special education resource teachers to help students and manage the workload for staff.
This agreement follows a provincial plan called the 2025 Balanced Measures Mandate, which focuses on protecting services like education while balancing the budget. Following the vote by teachers, the 60 school boards in the province are set to vote on the final approval on Friday, March 6, 2026.
