Barrie Hill Farms in Springwater, Ontario, officially closed for the winter season on March 6, 2026, as the family-run business prepares for its spring crop cycle.
The farm is expected to open its gates to the public again in May 2026. Local residents can look forward to the arrival of fresh asparagus, which will be the first major crop ready for harvest when the new season begins.
Current owner Morris Gervais, the son of founders Adrien and Evelyn Gervais, manages the property. The business is a second-generation family farm that has been operating in the community since it was first established in 1968.
This seasonal break is a regular part of the farm’s yearly routine. It allows the fields to rest and gives the staff time to get the grounds ready for the busy spring planting months.
