The weather service warns that these gusts are strong enough to damage roofs and fences or blow down tree branches. People are encouraged to secure loose objects around their homes to keep them from blowing away or hitting structures.
Drivers of high-sided vehicles like semi-trucks or campers should use extra caution while traveling along Highway 2. The wind can push these larger vehicles around, making it harder to stay in the correct lane during the day.
The strong winds are expected to last throughout Sunday before weakening in the evening. Calmer and clearer weather is expected to return to the region by the start of the week.
