Residents in Sherwood Park, Alberta, must move their vehicles off the street during active snow clearing or face a $250 ticket and towing. Strathcona County is currently enforcing these parking bans to allow municipal equipment to clear roads safely during the 2026 winter season.
There are two different types of parking restrictions that residents need to watch for. For larger collector roads, a Snow Route parking ban will be declared at least 24 hours before enforcement starts. These roads have permanent signs, and the county will announce when a ban is active so drivers have enough time to find a new spot.
For a local Residential Street, crews use temporary orange signs. These “No Parking” signs are placed directly in neighborhoods and show the exact dates when clearing will happen. Residents are responsible for checking their street for these orange signs to avoid penalties.
Strathcona County Enforcement Services has the authority to issue the $250 fine and order a tow for any vehicle that blocks the way. These operations are managed by the Transportation and Agriculture Services department to ensure that snow removal stays on track and streets remain safe for everyone in the community.
